The Story

Finca Tamana is a 57-hectare coffee plantation in the mountains between El Pital and La Plata in Huila, Colombia, acquired by Elias Roa and his wife Bellanid Sanchez in 2011 after the farm had been left abandoned. What they've built there since is a careful, meticulous operation with processing infrastructure that reflects a genuine commitment to quality: stainless steel fermentation tanks, an eco-mill that reduces water waste from the traditional 50 to 100 litres per kilo down to less than one, and parabolic dryers with shade nets for slow, even drying over 20 to 30 days. The Castillo Tambo variety grown here is a regional selection of the rust-resistant Castillo hybrid developed by Cenicafé, and it's one Tim Wendelboe rates above all other Castillo selections for its consistent quality and occasional delicate floral character.

The Finca Tamana Castillo Espresso is sweet, grounded, and satisfying. Herbal notes add a subtle complexity that's kept in check by ripe red fruit brightness, and dark chocolate anchors the finish with depth and warmth. Tim's philosophy is that Castillo's herbal character softens when cherries are picked at deep purple ripeness, and the quality of the processing here bears that out: this is a clean, expressive cup that makes a compelling case for the variety. Engineered for clarity and syrupy density: a necessary staple for the discerning espresso drinker who values consistency and craft in equal measure.

Our Coffee Addicts Promise

We're passionate about fresh, flavourful coffee and we know you are too. For the best taste, enjoy your coffee within approximately 6 weeks of the roast date.

Coffee naturally oxidizes slowly over time, but it can still be enjoyed beyond this window. Any beans older than six weeks from roast are clearly marked and automatically discounted, giving you a great value on quality coffee.
