Rhino Coffee Gear are about durability and strength. The LAST thing you want is a waste bag full of wet coffee grounds breaking or tearing. These waste tube liners are 100% Australian-made using recyclable and degradable materials. Made to fit perfectly inside your Thumpa 860.
They lift straight out of the waste tube (just lift the top right off), and are easily disposed of without mess or fuss. Comes in a long-lasting roll of 100. Bag roll and Thumpa 860 together weigh 7.5kg (empty).
Note:
Occasionally a waste bag can become quite full and a "vacuum effect" may occur underneath making it hard to remove the bag from the tube. This can be resolved in a couple different mannners:
Option 1: A couple of holes in the base of the tube can be drilled, preventing the vacuum from forming
Option 2: When emptying, tie the top of the bag up in a knot and lay the entire tube on the ground. The waste settles to one side reducing the vacuum effect and makes it easy to silde the bag out. This method is also gentler on the barista's back!
Clean Grounds Disposal, Bag by Bag
The Thumpa Large Degradable Waste Bags are the compatible liner system for the Rhino Thumpa Large (860mm) knockout tube, eliminating the need to empty coffee grounds directly from the tube and then rinse or clean it between emptyings. Each bag fits inside the Thumpa 860, holds the spent grounds throughout service, and lifts straight out when the top is removed — the grounds stay contained in the bag, which is then tied and disposed of without mess. The bags are made from recyclable and degradable materials, manufactured in Australia, and arrive on a roll of 100. The combined weight of the bag roll and the Thumpa 860 tube together is approximately 7.5kg when empty. These bags are designed for the Thumpa 860 only — they are not compatible with the Thumpa Bench Top 300mm.
A Note on Vacuum Effect
In high-use environments where the bag fills completely, a vacuum can form between the base of a full bag and the tube wall, making the bag difficult to remove. Two solutions: first, a small number of holes can be drilled in the base of the Thumpa tube, which prevents the vacuum from forming by allowing air in below the bag. Second, when removing a full bag, tie the top in a knot and lay the entire tube on its side on the ground — this allows the grounds to settle to the side of the bag rather than the base, reducing the vacuum effect and making the bag easier to slide out. Neither solution is required in normal use; the vacuum issue typically only arises when bags are allowed to fill completely before removal.
Thumpa 860 Accessories at Coffee Addicts
The Thumpa Large Degradable Waste Bags are part of the Thumpa 860 accessory ecosystem at Coffee Addicts. The Rhino Thumpa Large Knockout Tube (860mm, HDPE, $120) is the main unit. The Rhino Thumpa Replacement Rod ($11) and Rhino Thumpa Rubber Sleeve ($10) are the two serviceable wear parts for the tube's knock mechanism, both available separately. For the smaller benchtop option that does not use waste bag liners, the Rhino Thumpa Bench Top Knockout Tube (300mm, $110) is also stocked.
