$2.72The Story
Replacement rod for both the 300 and 860 size Thumpa knock tubes.
The Bar Inside the Thumpa That Takes the Knock
The Thumpa replacement rod is the metal bar that sits in the slotted mount inside the Thumpa knock tube, against which the portafilter is knocked to release spent puck. The rubber sleeve fits over this rod to cushion each impact and reduce knock noise. Over time with daily use in a commercial environment, the rod can bend, crack, or wear at the contact point — and because the Thumpa is designed with replaceability in mind, the rod can be swapped out independently rather than replacing the full tube. This rod fits both the Rhino Thumpa Bench Top Knockout Tube (300mm) and the Rhino Thumpa Large Knockout Tube (860mm) — one part, both sizes.
Installation Note — Lubricate When Fitting the Rubber Sleeve
When fitting or refitting the rubber sleeve onto the rod after replacement, do not force the two together by striking or banging them — friction between the rubber and the rod can cause them to bind and lock. If resistance is felt, apply a small amount of food-grade lubricant (such as olive oil) to the rod before sliding the sleeve on. The slotted bar design means the rod inserts and removes from the Thumpa easily for cleaning and maintenance without tools.
Thumpa Spare Parts at Coffee Addicts
The replacement rod pairs with the Rhino Thumpa Rubber Sleeve, available separately at Coffee Addicts for $10. For the complete knock tubes, the Rhino Thumpa Bench Top Knockout Tube (300mm, $110) and the Rhino Thumpa Large Knockout Tube (860mm, $120) are both stocked. For high-volume café use, the Rhino Thumpa Large Degradable Waste Bags (100-pack) are the compatible liner for the 860mm tube.
